Project ONE furnaces pass Cape Good Hope

The ship carrying the second cargo of cracking furnaces for Project ONE is on the final leg of its journey to Antwerp. Check out the stunning drone footage filmed at dawn as the ship passes the Cape of Good Hope.

Earlier, a ship with the first two furnaces arrived at Project ONE and now we are looking forward to the arrival of the four other furnaces. This completes the heart of the ethane cracker we are building in Lillo.

The furnaces each weigh as much as 6,000 tonnes, are more than 32 metres wide and 60 metres high – as high as the Antwerp MAS museum. In the furnace section, ethane is converted to ethylene by bringing the ethane to a high temperature in the presence of steam.
